A MARCH newsletter from Newman Ferrara “The Real Estate Litigation Leaders” discusses the New York County Supreme Court case of Sultan v. Connery. As we’ve read, the Sultans and Connerys share a two-unit Manhattan condo townhouse and “an array of claims was filed against [Sean] Connery, his family, lawyers and contractors for repair work.” These roof renovation arguments dating to 2001 have degenerated into arbitration, more suits, summary eviction proceedings against Connery, then his six countersuits to enforce the arbitration and evict the Sultans. Not even 007 has seen such slash-and-burn time.
So, as we speak, it’s additional lawsuits for personal injury, property damage, frivolous litigation, more claims against Connerys and contractors. Justice Marcy Friedman has just now urged both sides to “restore normalcy to this most unfortunate situation in which the neighbors have wholly lost the ability to cooperate” with each other.
OK, only from what I hear, our former James Bond may be stirred, but he is not shaken.
